Chicky is started by a Chinatown lover Yixi Liu who would like to share with the world the beauty of Chinatowns.
While stores and restaurants are constantly branding themselves to meet current design trends and taste of young people in order to survive the competition, the local businesses in Chinatown, run by first/second generations of Chinese immigrants, have been largely ignored due to their poor marketing and advertising. Yet their quality and quantity of the products and services have remained valuable with very affordable prices — there are many Chinese products available in Chinatowns that you could not even imagine, or sold online with high prices.
Given these facts, we decided to build an app that provide a digital version of Chinatown which gives detailed accounts of each stores/restaurants and their highlights for people to better experience the beauty of Chinatown.
